Job purpose

The Sustainability Manager plays a critical role in supporting all departments in understanding and meeting sustainability obligations, including the adoption of higher sustainability standards that go beyond mere compliance. This role involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on sustainability initiatives, with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects.

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for driving corporate sustainability practices and strategies, staying informed on sustainability trends, and collaborating with various functions to drive improvements in ESG practices. A key responsibility is the development and continuous review of the Energy & Sustainability Strategy to ensure alignment with organizational goals and global best practices. Additionally, this role provides essential data in the required format to support the Investor Relations (IR) team in compiling the annual Sustainability Report.

Duties and responsibilities

Ensure Compliance to Rules and Regulations

  • Ensures compliance with all NagaWorld’s standards or relevant industry standards during all aspects of work
  • Ensures adherence to NagaWorld’s Code of Conduct, Internal Rules, and Regulations at all times

General Job Functions

  • Analyzes current facilities and practices to identify opportunities for reducing energy consumption and ecological footprint
  • Maintains a comprehensive list of sustainability opportunities across various departments, prioritizing them based on material, energy, and cost savings
  • Develops and implements strategies to drive sustainable best practices throughout the organization
  • Provides leadership to define, secure buy-in for, and execute sustainability strategies, working closely with internal stakeholders. Implements programs to realize identified opportunities
  • Analyzes the results of implemented programs and supports the Investor Relations (IR) department by providing the necessary data for the annual ESG report to be included in the company’s Annual Report
  • Champions initiatives to reduce energy, materials, waste, and water usage; recommends and implements programs to minimize consumption and associated costs
  • Leads the development, updating, and monitoring of the sustainability strategic and business plans
  • Oversees the development of the annual budget and manages costs within the context of sustainability initiatives
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the Sustainability work plan, reviewing and evaluating work methods with other departments to identify and resolve issues
  • Any other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education required
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a managerial role in sustainability and environmental systems in a medium to large corporation
  • Professional membership in a relevant institution (e.g., IEMA, CIWM, CIBSE)
  • Strong understanding of legislative requirements and HKEX regulations
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills for presenting ideas and gaining consensus
  • Competency in financial justification and developing business cases
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PPT, Word and Outlook
  • English Language proficiency and Mandarin Language proficiency is a plus

Working conditions

This position may require extended working hours and may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
