ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER
Job purpose
The Assistant Chief Engineer assists in managing and supervising the maintenance operations of both exterior and interior facilities. This includes oversight of mechanical and electrical equipment, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems, plumbing, hot water systems, structural maintenance, grounds and landscaping, as well as energy-saving initiatives. The role ensures that the property is maintained in an optimal and efficient condition while prioritizing the safety and comfort of guests and employees.
Duties and responsibilities
Ensure Compliance to Rules and Regulations
- Ensures compliance with all NagaWorld’s standards or relevant industry standards during all aspects of work
- Ensures adherence to NagaWorld’s Code of Conduct, Internal Rules, and Regulations at all times
General Job Functions
- Plans and executes short and long-term maintenance operations
- Maintains distribution systems for electricity, water, steam, gas, and HVAC systems
- Ensures timely response to service requests for repairs or replacements
- Implements preventive maintenance and energy management programs
- Maintains inventory of parts, tools, and supplies
- Conducts continuous inspections of the building and grounds
- Communicates with department heads about maintenance needs
- Prevents equipment breakdowns and extends machinery lifespan
- Collaborates closely with departments, especially Front Office, Housekeeping, and F&B
- Handles job orders for installation, repairs, and maintenance promptly
- Establishes and maintains effective communication channels within the hotel
- Ensures compliance with safety and fire laws
- Any other tasks assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Hotel Engineering Operations within a large scale of operations
- Certification such as Certified Engineering Operations Executive (C.E.O.E) or equivalent is preferred
- Experience or technical training in HVAC, air-cooled chiller, plumbing, and electrical systems is preferred
- EPA, CPO, and HVAC certifications are advantageous
- Advanced knowledge of building and project management/engineering with comprehensive working knowledge of hotel facilities is required
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PPT, Word and Outlook
- English Language proficiency
Working conditions
This position may require extended working hours and may include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
